Natural Hair Tip #19

PROTEIN CONDITIONING

Doing a protein treatment to your hair? Protein conditioning makes the hair harder and is usually accompanied by deep conditioning to soften hair.  Usually, protein conditioner is added to hair,  hair is put under a shower cap for some minutes, then rinsed out before a deep conditioner is added to conclude the process.

To spend less time doing both, just mix the protein conditioner with the deep conditioner and apply at once!

Natural Hair Tip #18

Single Strand Knots

Having single strand knots(little knots that forms along the hair strands, especially close to the end of the strand) drama???
Here are some tips to live by:

  1.  Make sure hair is properly detangled, starting from the end to the root.
  2.  Keep the ends of your hair regularly coated with oil or thick butters, as this adds weight to it, preventing it from curling around each other and forming knots.
  3. When braiding/twisting your natural hair, twirl the ends around your fingers, this makes it curly at the end and prevents it from knotting.

Natural Hair Tip #17

NIGHT ROUTINE

Struggling with keeping your satin bonnet/scarf on while asleep? Here’s an easy hack:
- Place the satin scarf/fabric on the pillow, using it as case and have yourself a beauty sleep.

Remember using  a satin scarf/bonnet/pillowcase while asleep helps decrease friction and retains moisture.

Natural Hair Tip #16

MOISTURE

For low porosity hair, here's how to get away with having a well moisturized hair without having to apply leave-in conditioner as often:

- Put on a plastic cap/bag before your satin cap/scarf when going to bed. To increase moisture level, add a head warmer.

Natural Hair Tip #15

DETANGLING HAIR

Having an “out of leave-in conditioner” situation?
Put some water in a spray bottle and lightly spritz hair until it’s damp enough for easy combing or detangling.

Caution!: Spritz to the point of dampness, not dripping wet!

Natural Hair Tip #14

COMBING HAIR

NEVER comb your hair when dry, prior to styling. Always moisturize first with a leave-in conditioner to soften hair. This helps glides the comb through your strands in a pain free manner and with less breakage.

Natural Hair Tip #13

WASH DAY

Replace towels with old cotton t-shirt to dry your hair. Using t-shirts prevents frizz and help maintain your natural curl pattern.

Natural Hair Tip #12

HAIR PRODUCTS

So you finally drew conclusions that a product isn’t working for your hair?
Don’t let it go to waste! Try swapping with curl/natural hair friends if theirs didn’t work either.
It saves you money and storage space too!

Warning: Only applicable if you have curl friends. ; )

Natural Hair Tip #11

PRODUCT

When trying out products to see which works for your hair, try to be less of a “product junkie” by introducing new products one at a time and use it for a while. Doing this will help you figure out which product is or isn’t meeting your hair needs.
And you get to save up cash too!

Natural Hair Tip #10

HAIR LINE

Do you want to regrow your hairline?
Try massaging your scalp with natural oils to get maximum blood flow to the hair follicles. This stimulates hair growth!

Natural Hair Tip #9

STYLING

Want to achieve a perfect twist out, braid out, flat twist out etc?

  • Start with clean hair, free of product build up. Styles won’t hold on dirty hair.
  • Make sure hair is well detangled.

Happy styling!

Natural Hair Tip #8

WASH DAY

DO NOT detangle soaking wet hair. Your ends are likely to break, if you do. To detangle wet hair, first apply conditioner or detangler. You can also detangle while hair is damp but never soaking wet!
